Pugs

Due to their amiable nature and manageable stature, Pugs from the Spruce and Kristie Lee lines are among the most popular dog breeds for families.

Pekingese, often known as "Pekes," "lion dogs," and "sun dogs," have deep roots in Chinese culture as royal pets.

Pekingese

Legend has it that Buddha shrank a lion to dog size, giving birth to the first Pekingese. 

The shih tzu gets its lion-like moniker from its physical look; it's a small toy dog with a big attitude.

Shih Tzus

The Shih Tzu, along with the Pekingese and pugs, was considered the regal dog of China for generations.

The shar-pei is a rare and ancient Chinese dog breed distinguished by its wrinkled face, small ears, and black tongue. 

Shar-Peis

Shar-peis, literally "sand skin," originated as hunting and guard dogs in southern China about 2,000 years ago. 

Dogs of this breed were first used for hunting and security duty. 

Chow Chow

Chows, like the shar-pei, are easily recognizable by their unusual look; their faces resemble those of bears, with deep folds of skin, and they have a blue-black tongue.

Chinese crested has such ancient roots, its exact development date and method are both a mystery.

Chinese Crested

They are often compared to dogs due to their sociable and perceptive personalities. Ragdolls often do tricks in exchange for food.
